Belonging to a community and having the confidence and skills to contribute to it, is an essential part of every person’s life.
Balcombe’s Community Programs aim to raise awareness of social issues and provides students with a rich diversity of activities. These programs provide our students with the opportunities to develop key leadership and interpersonal skills such as confidence, understanding, empathy, resilience and responsibility.
All students from Foundation to Year 9 at Balcombe Grammar also have the opportunity to learn a second language (French and/or Japanese), with the option to continue to VCE level. Learning a second language teaches us about communication with people from other cultures, and we learn about our own language through the study of another.
In addition to languages, the entire school community welcomes Inbound Study Tours enabling students to engage with other languages and schooling practices from around the world.
Balcombe Grammar School values opportunities for students to feel a sense of curiosity and excitement, particularly those that provide possibilities for our students to experience life beyond the school gates.
Opportunities to do this see our students exploring the full range of diverse environments that the Mornington Peninsula region provides locally, and this regional experience becomes a testing ground for students to gain confidence further afield whether that be when navigating the streets of Tokyo or learning from friends in remote Northern Territory.
Those who attend the tours say that it is unforgettable and that they are all very proud to start relationships that can continue to be developed between Balcombe and overseas schools for the years to come.
