Year 12 Balcombe Grammar student, Geena Davy, has achieved spectacular results at the National Athletics Championships held in Adelaide from Thursday 11 – Friday 19 April.
Geena competed in the long jump event and on her first jump achieved a Personal Best of 6.11 metres, beating her previous personal best of 6.02 metres at the 2023 Australian All Schools Championships. In doing so, not only did Geena win the event she also became the National Under 18 Champion for the first time.
Geena’s continued success is certainly a reflection of her hard work and commitment to athletics since she was 10 years old. The Australian Championships have a history of unveiling talent, counting among their alumni Catherine Freeman, Matt Shirvington and Sally Pearson.
We congratulate Geena and look forward to watching her progress as one of the future stars of Australian athletics.
